Land Tax records are one of the few sources providing details of which persons owned and/or occupied properties from the late
18th century to the early 19th century. They become a little more detailed as time progresses through that period, in particular
offering, in many cases, clear identification of the properties. The original records for Effingham can be inspected at the Surrey
