In the earliest censuses the data collected about individuals was not retained (except in rare cases) and was used only to assemble summary tables of statistics. The following summary tables assembled in 1801 and 1811 provide some information about Effingham.
From 1841 the data collected about individuals was retained, having been preserved in the so-called enumeration books. The following records are reduced-resolution scans of the enumeration books derived from Ancestry, on whose website subscribers can view higher resolution scans.
