COMMONERS DAY 2014
This event on Effingham Common took place on Sunday September 28th 2014 and was jointly organised by The Friends of Effingham Common, Guildford Borough Council and Effingham Parish Council.
A new feature this year was the decision that the exercising of the Commoners’ Rights would be officiated by the Mayor of Guildford.

The Marquees
The marquees presented displays primarily by Effingham Parish Council, ELHG, Surrey Wildlife Trust, RHS Wisley and Guildford Borough Council.
A separate mobile stall was used by the Surrey Hills Society.
ELHG’s stall, seen above, focused on some outstanding mysteries that the Group hoped it would one day solve, possibly through the help of visitors to this event.
We displayed sixteen A3 landscape sheets which can be viewed here as a single pdf. The last of them advertised an intended ELHG exhibition about the Great War, planned for November, but later on it was decided to postpone this. It was eventually staged, very successfully, in 2016.
