VILLAGE DAY 2005
Introduction
Effingham’s Village Day in 2005 took place on Saturday July 9th on the King George V Playing Fields. The weather was mostly cloudy but with occasional sunshine.
Planning
The event was organized by the Rotary Club of Bookham and Horsley and called the “Summer Fete at Effingham”. We have no documents showing the details of the planning.
Official Programme
The Programme shows that the event officially opened at 1.00pm and began with a fancy dress procession.
Events
There were the usual displays of dancing, gymnastics, dog shows, karate and so on; the familiar Croydon Flying Club and Epsom and Ewell Brass Band also featured. The quirky miniature railway was especially successful with the children. Altogether the net takings from the day amounted to about £4,000.
